What do four strings and Čiurlionis have in common? It’s more than just the name, that’s for sure. For almost six decades already, the Čiurlionis Quartet have been making the music of Lithuania’s gem more well known around the world, reminding us each time that a tradition remains vibrant so long as there’s something within it yet to be discovered.

The collective’s unfailing curiosity, the ingenuity of their interpretations and pure mastery has helped pave the way onto countless stages around the world. In 2025 alone, commemorating 150 years since the birth of Čiurlionis, the quartet’s performances ranged from Scandinavia to Japan and Taiwan. So to this collective, Čiurlionis’ name is not just a formality, but a part of its creative identity.

The sound of strings amid the vaulted heights in St Casimir’s Church takes on a particular depth, warmth and lightness. That’s why in this programme, Čiurlionis’ music will shine forth in new colours, revealing unexpected links to the worlds of other creators.

Programme features music by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Zigmund Noskowski, Zita Bružaitė
