About the event

Performers
JURGITA KAZAKEVIČIŪTĖ
(organ)
Starting time:
1 PM
Duration:
60 min.

A composer in whose music one’s inner world, nature and the infinite cosmos intertwine. A performer capable of taking the immense power of the organ not to overwhelm, but to reveal the most subtle layers of this world.

The Echoes of Čiurlionis cycle will commence with one of the most striking organists in Lithuania, Jurgita Kazakevičiūtė. Her interpretations are characterised by expressiveness, maturity and impeccable technique, while proof of her special connection to the Lithuanian genius’ work lies in her winning 1st Prize in the International M. K. Čiurlionis Piano and Organ Competition back in 2007.

The performer’s repertoire spans different musical worlds – from the strict architecture of Bach and Buxtehude’s works to the mystical sound of Messiaen and music by contemporary Lithuanian composers. Yet rather than the variety of her repertoire, it is more the inner logic and unique sound of these works that she deems important.

That’s why this concert is not merely a formal act of reverence to Čiurlionis, but a conversation between different epochs.
