About the event

Thursday, July 8, 7 pm
St Casimir’s Church (34 Didžioji St, Vilnius)

Both are grand. Only one has been created by nature, while the other – by man. The human voice and the organ. A combination that brings to life masterpieces from different epochs. Opera soloist  Joana Gedmintaitė and organist Rimvydas Mitkus invite you to take part in this experience.

The singer, a recent winner of the Golden Cross of the Stage (for her role as Anna Bolena (Anne Boleyn) in the opera Anna Bolena), feels right at home both on the grand stage and in a chamber setting. The roles she has performed have drawn the highest of accolades from audiences and professionals alike, while the public in Great Britain, Estonia, the United States, Japan, France, Sweden and other countries have delighted in her concert hall appearances. Besides an active solo career, organist Rimvydas Mitkus also takes part in musical projects with various Lithuanian performers and broadens his repertoire with his own transcriptions of works and is also a choir leader. The organ competition laureate and prize winner regularly attends master classes to hone his skills even more.

These musicians have combined their talents so that the beautiful duo of voice and organ can reveal itself in all its powerful grandeur.

Program features A. Vivaldi, G. P. Telemann, G. B. Pergolesi, G. F. Handel and others
