Do you know how the soul of France sounds? Why, like the accordion in the hands of Richard Galliano of course! And do you know where you can hear him? At the Christopher Summer Festival! You'll be treated to pieces from the accordion legend's latest album.

According to The Guardian, Richard Galliano is the best accordion player of our times, having rewritten the history of his chosen instrument. Bringing it into the great jazz scene, he has proven that it is not a “poor-man's piano”, but a composer's muse. Emboldened by Astor Piazzolla himself, Galliano has liberated the traditional musette of the French from the grip of its nostalgic clichés. And by freely and stylishly navigating between different genres, he has earned the admiration of professionals, jazz fans and classical music aficionados alike.

One evening he may be playing Mozart's works, on another – Edith Piaf's songs, and on the third – he'd be improvising with Wynton Marsalis. Yet where does he feel most at home? “My goal is to love, to play, and to create a lot of different music. Classical music enriches me immensely, jazz lets me improvise freely, while composition allows me to combine these different experiences”, says Galliano.

So just close your eyes, listen and enjoy. Let yourself be swept away by the tango and the sounds of the musette to the most brilliant corners of Paris...
