A musical flash from the South – right here at the Christopher Festival! A group whose melodies carry you away like the ocean waves, and whose rhythms pour over you like a tropical rain shower. These are travellers in the world music scene, inviting you on an odyssey from Brazil to Angola, from Cabo Verde to the shores of the Mediterranean.

Ayom are six charismatic musicians from four different countries. At the forefront is the fiery Brazilian singer and percussionist Jabu Morales. The group brings their exclusive Afro-Brazilian sound to Vilnius, peppered with the flavours of the Mediterranean Sea region.

“Ayom is not only the name of our group. It is a force we feel in every beat of our drums, each breath of the accordion, in each song that is born of centuries-old traditions and our own stories. Ayom is a mythical being teaching us to play and sing, to unite people through sound. Our music is happy, full of life, inspiring and engaging. Before you know it, you'll be up and dancing”, says Morales about their upcoming performance.

Indeed, with their exotic sound and energy the musicians enchant the public and professionals alike: Ayom was recognised as Best Group in the Songlines Music Awards (2021), while their debut album made it onto the list of best world music albums, compiled by Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.

So, get ready for some fun and adventure, and an evening filled with the spirit of Ayom!
