Women loved him, men were jealous of him, concert halls clamoured to have him appear on their stages. His life story is shrouded in secrets and myths. Nonetheless, Niccolò Paganini’s name has today gone down in history as a Musician with a capital M!
“The media likes to call me the Paganini of the East. This title is a great honour, but an even greater responsibility”, says Mengla Huang, here in Lithuania for the first time.
The most prominent violinist in China caught the European public’s attention whilst still only 22. He won the gold medal at the Paganini Violin Competition and the special prize for best interpretation. Critics have noted Huang’s impressive technique, which allows him to reveal the beauty of even the most complicate pieces. Whereas audiences from Beijing to Copenhagen offer the performer their loud cheering and standing ovations.
He is taking the stage in Vilnius together with an equally worthy partner – the Čiurlionis Quartet, where Huang will briefly take us to the Baroque world of J. S. Bach and open the door to the secrets of the “Devil’s violinist”.
Program includes J. S. Bach and N. Paganini
Concert duration: 75 min.
